Sex Discrimination
While there can be no question that women have made great strides in the corporate world over the past several decades, there can also be no question that the “glass ceiling” continues to stifle the careers of many women. We have seen the effects of the “glass ceiling” on our clients in a number of cases over the years, including in some of the largest corporations in the State of New Jersey. Some cases have involved a failure to promote; others the ‘transfer’ of a female executive into a dead-end job; and yet others a not-so-subtle pressure on the female executive to leave the corporation.
And just as the “glass ceiling” has yet to disappear, so too “the old-boys’ network,” which often rears its ugly head to stifle the careers of female employees. While “old-boy networks” can exist in almost any type of profession, we have found them particularly prevalent in the world of sales – a field traditionally dominated by men. When women try to break into such a field, they can find themselves vastly outnumbered, demeaned by their male co-workers, and generally made to feel unwelcome. While some women may survive in such an atmosphere, many others leave, demoralized and stressed.
Attorneys Richard Schall and Patricia Barasch have nearly 40 years combined experience representing employees in complex employment discrimination cases, including many cases involving sex discrimination. We enjoy the challenge of tackling the most complex legal issues, taking on the biggest corporations in New Jersey, along with their law firms, and standing up for the rights of our clients to be free from sex discrimination in the workplace.
